The question remains. How do I make money as an Independent Artist? How do I become a successful artist with billions of fans? What many indies don’t know is the answer is simple. It’s Money. For a minute I want you to forget about Social Media Posts and Local Shows because at the end of the day if you don’t have a substantial budget to put behind your career you’re honestly doomed. And I’m not just talking about Promotion costs. I can narrow it down to the simplest factors time and gas money. When you’re trying to begin your music career you need to get places to meet people and make moves. Keeping things afloat while still pursuing your dreams can be hard but I am here to let you know what you need to do to at least make money with your music and build your fans up. Before you continue to read just know this is not an overnight success list and if you are not consistent there is really no point in reading this.
Once your music has been copyrighted and registered and you have established who will be your publisher from here it is all down to listens and streams. PROMOTE YOUR MUSIC! I’m not talking about a share on facebook or a retweet because honestly the people sharing and retweeting your work need to have value otherwise this does not mean much. Everything you do needs to have value. The people you talk to the shows you perform at as an Independent artist you need to move with a purpose as if this was your lively hood. Establish a budget based on when you get paid. It can be weekly, monthly or biweekly. You need to have a realistic budget for everything you do. Just remember the smaller the budget the less you will get out of the results. (Tip: Write down your goals)
